Your insurance company sends you a letter stating that they will no longer pay for treatment to try and cure the cancer or extend your life. They will,
however, pay for drugs and service to make your more comfortable during your last days. What are your feelings on this? My wife and I have had some
conversations about this recently, and a local news article prompted me to create this topic. I've told my wife that if the odds are against me, or things
appear as though they'll get so expensive that we'll be digging out for the remainder of our lives, that I'd just like to let things run their
course. I don't want to use up resources that would be better spent on someone younger, or with a better chance of survival - whether through my own
insurance company or a federal or state funded program. I'd rather spend my last days comfortable, and give my wife and family a fighting chance to remain
afloat financially.
I'm having a hard time seeing it any other way.
